Deep Thoughts from a Rox Head
Quick Thoughts:

Eric Byrnes is great. I like his enthusiasm, his hustle and his love for the game. I even like the way he talks about how the series is going:

"We look back on those first two games, we have not been outplayed. If anything, I think it's the other way around, so that gives us confidence knowing that we can play with them."

So if the Rox just continue to get outplayed, then, according to Byrnes, the series should be over Tuesday night.

I love that guy.

The wins are still pilling up even though the middle of the lineup has gone very cold. It's a good thing the weak hitting DBacks are the opponents because counting on the bullpen to carry the Rox against a better team would be a recipe for disaster.

G  AB R  H 2B 3B HR  RBI TB BB SO   OBP  SLG  AVG
Atkins    5  20 3  5  2  0  0   1   7  1  2  .286 .350 .250
Holliday  5  21 3  4  0  0  2   3  10  1  7  .227 .476 .190
Tulo      5  21 1  4  1  0  1   2   8  1  7  .227 .381 .190
Helton    5  20 3  2  0  1  0   1   4  1  3  .136 .200 .100

The whole team has one extra-base hit in two games. They are batting only .211, and slugging only .225. They have more strikeouts than hits. That being said, the Defense is getting better as we get deeper into the post season and that is saying a lot because the regular season defense was the best in MLB history. Highlite reels will be showing the Rockies glove work for years after this season is over, for sure.

MLB should force the networks to schedule October playoff games on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I know the games would be competing against College and Pro football games, but its not like they aren't in the evening as it is anyhow. And the games in the west will end much earlier, thus more fans will probably be tuning in.

By playing in the daylite when the sun is shining, the temperatures could be 30 degrees warmer than what it is during an evening game. This is not only better for the players but the fans will enjoy it more also.

I keep going back to the A-Rod story because its so fun. Scott Boras is in such a dream world that it's quite possible that we might see the best player in baseball not even play in 2008 because there is no way any team is going to pay him $300 million no matter how much BS Boras flings around.

"The evidence is very clear. This is one of the rare players who literally pays for himself,'' Boras concluded. "The Yankees can't afford not to keep A-Rod.'' Considering the 12-year hint, the total asking price is expected to easily exceed $300 million.

Even quicker thoughts pondered:

The Rockies can go 6-6 the rest of the way and still win the World Series.

Willy T's legs look healthy.

The middle of the line up is in a horrible slump.

How are we still winning ballgame's?

Oh yeah.. we're playing the pathetic DBacks, who have no business being in the post season with that offense.

----------
And they can't even be successful after forcing the Rox to wear their road greys rather than the lucky black sleeveless uniforms.

"Aw, gray, black. It doesn't really matter to us anymore," said Spilborghs. "Right now, we'd wear pink if we had to."
-----------

The bullpen is pitching over their heads. Keep it up boys.. just a couple more weeks, please.

Hurdle is in his personal and professional heaven.

The winning share for Mike Coolbaugh's family is getting bigger.

Awesome!
