Larry Bigbie was obtained from Baltimore for Eric Byrnes. Bigbie was then rumored to be sent directly to the Red Sox for a catching prospect soon afterwards but the deal, for whatever reasons you want to believe, went sour.
This writer believes that Bigbie is a legit outfielder who may fit into the future plans for centerfield. He has some speed to cover the wide expanses in Coors and looks to have a decent arm. He has a nice swing from the left side and projects out to have 20-25 homer and 20-30 stolen base potential. If he ever reached these numbers, then he could be a nice CF for the Rockies for the forseable future.
Clint Hurdle's comments concerning Bigbie's bat:
"I would like to see some quickness to his bat. I'd like to see him get the barrel
through the zone with a little more regularity."
