6/25/06.. scouting report from OhNoKoolAid
CF Joe Gaetti- I still don't have a good read on his defensive potential. He doesn't have a very athletic build, and doesn't appear to have good speed, but he at least looks competent. His offense is what will carry him to the bigs. He has a quick, uppercut swing that produced a line drive homer into the left field net. His power potential and batting eye could give Hawpe competition down the road, assuming Holliday keeps his gains and locks up left field for some time. Good player, probably our top corner outfield prospect above A ball.

Assistant general manager Bill Geivett talking about Joe Gaetti:
"He comes from a baseball family, and who better to learn from than his Dad?" Geivett said. "It's very evident in how he goes about his business and prepares to play. Just the joy he brings to the game must come from his Dad."
Gaetti's success hasn't come as a surprise, Geivett said.
"Joe has had a few injuries but when he is healthy he brings everything he can to the ballpark," Geivett said. "He's one we call a gamer. He's a battler and he plays hard every pitch. That's why he gets rewarded with good stats.
"I think this is what we expected of him. I was in the draft room when we picked him and every scout had good things to say about him. He's a guy the scouts thought would play in the big leagues."
Geivett said once Gaetti gets a few things tweaked at the plate, he should continue to show improvement.
"To me, I think he tries to pull too much occasionally," Geivett said. "That can get him into problems. He might be a little too anxious as a hitter.
"For him, in a game that has no major weakness, it's more playing against upper level pitchers and hitting against them," Geivett said. "It truly is where he is either going to make his mark in this game or has issues. But I have full confidence in him.
